آئیں اردو سیکھیں

There are two genders:  “Feminine” and “Masculine”. Every Urdu noun belongs to one of those genders.

Coffee:  caffee۔      کافی	Table:  Meizمیز
Book:      Kitab۔       کتاب	Pen: Qalamقلم
Chair:     kursee کرسی	Cup:  cupکپ
Plate:      plate/ thaliپلیٹ۔ تھالی	Flower:   phoolپھول
Ring:        angoothee انگوٹھی	Name: naam  نام
Car:          garee.              گاڑی	Water: Pani پانی
Bicycle:    cycle.            سائیکل	Curtain:      parda۔  پ ر دہ ۔ پردہ۔       پردے
Pencil:      pencil۔         پنسل	Plant:          poda پ و د ا۔       پودا

 

Auxiliary verbs in Past tense:

ت ھ ی  ۔ تھی     تھا .              ت ھ ا                         Was:     tha (m)  / thee (F)         

ت ھ ے          ۔     تھے  ۔ ت ھ ی ں  ۔ تھیں Were:   thei/ theiN (F.P)

It was my tea.

• Yeh meiree chaei thee.

یہ میری چائے تھی۔

This was my cup.

• Yeh meira cup tha.

یہ  میرا کپ تھا۔

It was my water.

• Yeh meira pani tha.
• یہ میرا پانی تھا

This was my brother’s book.

• Yeh meirei bhai ki kitab thee.
• یہ میرے بھائی کی کتاب تھی

This was my Dad’s house.

• Yeh meirei Abujan ka ghar tha.
• یہ میرے ابوجان کا گھر تھا۔

This was my School.

• Yeh meira School tha.
• یہ میرا سکول تھا

This was my Mum’s ring.

• Yeh meiree ammijan kee angooThee thee.
• یہ میری امی جان کی انگوٹھی تھی

Use of was & were with postpositions.

A jug of water was on the table. Meiz par pani ka jug tha.

م ی ز۔ میز پر پانی کا جگ تھا

The water was in the jug:           Jug miN pani tha.

جگ میں پانی تھا.

There was water in the jug.        wahaN jug min pani tha.

وہاں جگ میں پانی تھا

Here was an Urdu book on the table:      yahaN meiz par kitab thee.

یہاں میز پر اردو کی کتاب تھی۔ yahaN meiz par Urdu ki kitab thee

وہاں کمرے میں کرسی تھی۔ wahaN kamrei miN kursee thee

یہاں کمرے میں دروازہ تھا۔- yahaN kamrei miN darwaza tha.

وہاں شہر میں عمارت تھی۔ wahaN shehar miN imarat thee.

وہاں شہر میں عمارتیں تھیں۔ wahaN shehar miN imarteiN theiN.

وہاں میز پر تین بوتلیں تھیں ۔ wahaN meiz par teen botleiN theiN.

میرا گھر اس عمارت میں تھا۔ meira ghar us imarat miN tha

سڑک پر وہ ایک گاڑی تھی۔ saRak par wo eik gaRee thee.

کھڑکی پر پردہ تھا۔. khiRkee par parda tha.

ان شہروں میں عمارتیں تھیin shehroN miN imarteiN theiN.

گھروں میں چار کھڑکیاں تھیں۔ghar miN char khiRkiaN theiN.

وہاں چار لڑکیاں تھیں۔ wahaN char laRkiyaN theiN

میرے گھر میں چار کمرے تھے۔meirei ghar miNM char kamrei thei.

پلیٹوں میں  سات پھول تھے۔PaleiToN miN sat phool thei

میرے گھروں میں وہ سات کتابیں  تھیں۔meirei gharoN miN who saat kitabeiN theiN

آپ کے میزوں پر کتا بیں تھیں۔ aapke meizoN par  kitabeiN theiN.

میرے کمرے میں پودے تھے۔ merei kamrei miN podei thei.
